Position Title: FHIR API Developer
Position Type: 6-month contract (high likelihood of extension based on performance)
Location: 100% Remote
Referral Fee: $120 +/- per month based on hours worked.
Position Overview:
Gravity’s client was awarded a grant from a pharmaceutical company to build their own software application called “Smart on FHIR” app. This application will send orders & gather information automatically through APIs regarding patients’ medical history, which will then immediately integrate with their EMR (Epic) enabling the team to provide recommendation to the providers for treatment plans quicker.
The goal of this project is to automate the data exchange process safely from system to system to one single source of truth- Epic. This position will require someone to work hands on with FHIR application development + API Integration development from 3rd party software systems to the EMR.
Required Skills/ Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience as a Developer
- 5-10 years of experience with an EHR/ EMR (Epic highly preferred)
- Strong tenure in the Healthcare/ Pharma industry
- Recent hands-on development experience with FHIR/ HL7
- API integration experience with an EHR/EMR
- API development within FHIR/ HL7
- Experience creating applications that integrate with an EHR/EMR
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Macro Tasks:
- Creating a proof of concept for the FHIR application
- Providing support from implementation, go-live, and support
- Pure hands-on development with FHIR/ HL7
- Integration of homegrown software with EPIC
- Creating a single-sign-on web enabled browser
Micro Tasks:
- Understanding current state workflows
- Meeting with the dev team to understand needs
- Building shell of an application
- Building APIs from scratch
- Ensuring the functionality between API’s & that they are integrated safely
- Testing the API’s
- Updates, bug fixes, and configuration of the application
