Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Remote Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team and support the implementation and management of our organization’s information security strategy. This individual will ensure compliance with relevant state and federal regulations, lead incident response efforts, and contribute to creating a secure operational environment through effective risk assessments, security controls, and awareness training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct, compliance policies, and report any suspected violations.
- Support and implement the organization’s information security strategy.
- Develop technical mappings of security strategy to applicable security controls.
- Conduct security risk assessments and compliance audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Establish and manage robust threat intelligence and vulnerability management processes.
- Define security requirements for projects and participate in technical review boards.
- Create and implement secure configuration standards for hardware and software solutions.
- Lead cybersecurity incident response efforts as a subject matter expert.
- Design and document workflows, procedures, and architectures related to information security.
- Test and implement security controls to mitigate risks effectively and achieve organizational goals.
- Recommend corrective actions for identified risks and vulnerabilities.
- Monitor threat intelligence feeds to assess and communicate emerging risks to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to enforce and enhance security measures.
- Provide feedback to leadership on policies and create procedures aligned with security objectives.
- Recommend, deploy, and manage information security tools and applications.
- Assist with employee security awareness training and mentorship programs to foster a security-focused culture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Certifications:
- Required (one of the following): CISSP, CASP CE, CSSLP, ISSAP, or ISSEP.
- Preferred: HCISPP or similar healthcare-related certification.
Experience:
- Required: Five (5) years in a technical security-focused IT role such as systems administration, systems engineering, cloud security, network administration, or information security engineering.
- Alternatively, nine (9) years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred: Experience in a regulated enterprise environment, including creating architecture, processes, and procedural documentation. Familiarity with compliance audits and risk assessments.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of healthcare security frameworks (e.g., HCISPP).
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or other industry standards.
- Proficiency in threat intelligence tools, vulnerability management platforms, and incident response methodologies.
- Ability to develop and deliver security awareness programs.
