Job Title: Deskside Support/Field Technician (Windows Upgrade Project)
Location: Raleigh-Durham, NC (Primarily on-site at 14 locations)
Contract Type: Contract (4-5 weeks)
Work Hours: Primarily evening shifts (until midnight or later), with some daytime hours for planning and coordination

 


About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Deskside Support/Field Technician to assist in the deployment of Windows 11 and the latest Office suite across 14 locations. This project will focus on upgrading systems to ensure compatibility with Office 365 and establishing a standardized operating environment for all employees. The Field Technician will play a critical role in ensuring that upgrades are completed seamlessly, workstations are fully operational the following business day, and any issues are addressed promptly.


Responsibilities:

  • Windows Upgrade Deployment:
  • Deploy standard Windows 11 and Office suite images to workstations across 14 locations, ensuring all systems are upgraded to the latest versions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the upgrade process to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform testing on all upgraded systems to verify functionality, ensuring minimal downtime for end-users.
  • Evening Shift Work:
  • Work primarily during evening shifts (typically starting after business hours) to perform upgrades with minimal disruption to daily business operations.
  • Evening shifts will often extend until midnight or later as needed to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • System Imaging and Troubleshooting:
  • Assist with deploying standard images using tools like PDQ Deploy or other imaging software.
  • Address any system issues promptly to avoid delays and maintain the project schedule.
  • Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with other team members for planning and coordination, ensuring smooth execution of upgrades at all sites.
  • Provide on-site support and escalate issues when necessary to ensure efficient completion of all tasks.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience:
    • Proven experience with upgrading Windows 10 to Windows 11, including familiarity with system imaging and best practices for large-scale deployments.
    • Background in desktop support, IT troubleshooting, or field technician roles with a focus on system upgrades.
  • Key Skills:
  • Windows 10 to Windows 11 Upgrades: Hands-on experience performing OS upgrades and ensuring compatibility with the latest software suites.
  • System Imaging & Deployment: Experience using tools like PDQ Deploy to image and deploy systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills to address issues that may arise during system upgrades.
  • Ability to Work Evening Shifts: Flexibility to work late shifts (up to midnight or later) to meet project timelines.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to fully commit to the 3-4 week project period without other conflicting commitments.
  • A proactive, reliable, and self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
