Job Title: QA Tester
Type: Contract – 6+ Months
Location: Onsite 5 days per week Juno Beach

 

For a QA Tester working on a mapping application that displays information about an electrical grid, several specialized skill sets are recommended. These include:

  1. Domain Knowledge:
    • Understanding of electrical grid operations, terminologies, and components like substations, transformers, power lines, etc.
  2. Technical Skills:
    • GIS (Geographic Information Systems): Knowledge of GIS concepts, tools, and software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
    • Mapping Software: Experience with mapping libraries or frameworks (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Google Maps API).
    • Database Management: Proficiency in querying and managing spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server with spatial features).
  3. Testing Skills:
    • Manual Testing: Strong skills in writing and executing test cases, test plans, and reporting bugs.
    • Automated Testing: Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks for both UI and back-end testing (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG for functional testing, and JMeter for performance testing).
    • Performance and Load Testing: Experience with performance testing tools to ensure the application can handle large datasets and high user loads.
  4. Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills to identify potential mapping application problems and data inconsistencies.
    • Capability to analyze and verify spatial data accuracy and quality.
  5. Attention to Detail:
    • High level of attention to detail to ensure the precision and reliability of geographic and electrical grid data.
  6. Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues related to spatial visualization and application functionality.
    • Competence in suggesting effective solutions and improvements.
  7. Soft Skills:
    • Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with development teams, GIS specialists, and other stakeholders.
    • Documentation: Proficiency in documenting test cases, test plans, and reporting issues clearly and succinctly.
    • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well within a team environment, often involving cross-functional teams.

    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical grids and GIS data.
