Job Title:  M&A Program Manager
Location:  Remote
 

Purpose

The Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) Program Manager will lead and oversee large-scale M&A activities within the healthcare sector, focusing on integrating complex IT systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networks, and applications.  The role requires an understanding of healthcare IT environments, regulatory requirements, and best practices for seamless technology integration and transition.  The M&A Program Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all IT aspects of mergers and acquisitions are executed effectively, securely, and within the project timelines. 
 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Program Leadership: 
  • Lead the IT M&A program, managing the entire lifecycle from due diligence to post-merger integration. 
  • Define program scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain the program roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Maintains project priorities, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Due Diligence:
  • Coordinate a thorough IT due diligence on potential merger or acquisition targets, assessing the current state of technology infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and compliance. 
  • Identify potential risks, integration challenges, and opportunities for synergies.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure all IT-related aspects are considered in the deal evaluation.
  • Integration Planning & Execution:
  • Develop detailed IT integration plans, including systems, infrastructure, applications, data, and cybersecurity.
  • Oversee the migration of IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. 
  • Manage IT-related change management processes, including communication plans, training, and user support. 
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT M&A activities, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Regularly communicate program status, risks, and issues to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between IT M&A activities and overall business objectives. 
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and mitigate IT risks related to M&A activities, including cybersecurity threats, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all IT integration activities comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and GDPR. 
  • Develop and implement robust security measures during the integration process.
  • Budget & Resources:
  • Manage the IT M&A budget, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting. 
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure the timely and successful completion of all M&A activities.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party vendors and consultants involved in the M&A process.
  • Post-Integration
  • Monitor and report on the performance of integrated IT systems post-integration.
  • Lead resolution of any IT-related issues that arise during the post-integration phase.  
  • Conduct post-integration reviews to identify lesson learned and improve future M&A processes.

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
    • MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
    • 10+ years of experience in IT Program Management or 5 years M&A Program Management preferably in healthcare.
    • Proven track record successfully leading IT M&A programs, including large-scale system integrations and transformations.
    • Experience collaborating with senior leaders and cross-functional team.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Waterfall)
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. 
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure is a fast-paced environment.
    • Strategic thinker with ability to align IT M&A activities with business goals.

    Certifications:

    • Program or Project Management Professional (PgMP or PMP) or equivalent certification required.
