Job Title: Technical System Administrator
Location: Miami, FL
Job Type: Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Systems Administrator at the Practitioner level with hands-on experience in Microsoft Windows, RedHat Linux, and exposure to virtualization and cloud technologies. This individual will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of diverse computing environments. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who brings a solid technical foundation, troubleshooting capabilities, and an eagerness to support both legacy systems and modern infrastructure initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
System Administration & Optimization

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems
• Assist in evaluating and tuning system software for performance
• Monitor and support integration and interface requirements across platforms

Technical Leadership & Support

• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support, escalating issues when necessary
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using established tools and methodologies

Virtualization & Cloud Support

• Manage and maintain VMware environments (ESXi, vCenter)
• Support Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration
• Assist with hybrid cloud environments and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using VMware Horizon

Scripting & Automation

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, ksh, and Python
• Support basic automation of routine system tasks

Operational Management

• Maintain system reliability, including backups and disaster recovery solutions
• Collaborate on ITIL-based service delivery and change management practices

Collaborative Integration

• Work cross-functionally with other teams to support system and platform integration
• Contribute to business process improvement initiatives

Required Experience and Skills

• Proficiency with Windows Server administration (installation, configuration, maintenance)
• Experience with RedHat Linux systems
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and DNS
• PowerShell scripting skills for automation
• Exposure to VMware (ESXi, vCenter)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized applications
• Understanding of SAN storage integration
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols, security practices, routing, and switching
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies
• Familiarity with ITIL processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in enterprise environments
• Exposure to VMware Horizon for VDI
• Familiarity with business process improvement methods
