Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote (LATAM)
Job-Type: Contract
Salary Range: $25 – 35/hr.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a predominantly on-premise, Microsoft-centric environment with a strong emphasis on containerization and CI/CD automation.
This role will focus heavily on core Docker-based container management (including Docker Swarm) rather than fully managed cloud container platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working at the container and infrastructure layer, managing nodes, workloads, and deployment pipelines directly.
You will play a key role in automating CI/CD pipelines, improving deployment workflows, and enhancing system reliability across development and infrastructure teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work within a small DevOps team supporting both development and infrastructure functions.
- Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines with a focus on automation, scalability, and reliability.
- Manage and maintain Docker-based container environments (Docker, Docker Swarm), including direct interaction with nodes and workloads.
- Support and automate Windows Server environments, including IIS, Active Directory integrations, and SQL Server deployments.
- Implement and maintain automation scripts and workflows using PowerShell and Python.
- Support monitoring, logging, and observability initiatives across systems and applications.
- Contribute to release management practices, governance, and operational standards.
- Assist with virtualization (VMware) and on-prem infrastructure management.
- Drive improvements in system performance, uptime, patching, and disaster recovery processes.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 5–8+ years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or related roles
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Docker (required); experience with Docker Swarm strongly preferred
- Container orchestration concepts (Kubernetes knowledge is helpful, but not the primary focus)
- Experience managing container environments at the infrastructure level (nodes, workloads, deployments)
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity preferred)
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Python
- Experience working within Windows Server environments, including IIS and Active Directory
- Solid understanding of release management and DevOps best practices
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools, including ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and/or Grafana
- Familiarity with SQL Server environments
Nice to Have Experience:
- Experience with Docker Swarm in production environments
- Exposure to Mirantis (container management/monitoring platform)
- Experience supporting MS SQL on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Familiarity with React or C# (to better support application teams)
- Experience modernizing on-prem environments toward hybrid/cloud models
- Exposure to VMware-based infrastructure
