Title: Business Development Representative 
Location: Tampa, FL

Gravity is seeking a business development professional to join our client’s deal origination team. This position involves prospecting and marketing to middle-market businesses in the United States to attract business owners interested in selling or raising capital for their company. This position’s main focus will be to help identify and bring in investment banking transaction opportunities for the firm through direct outreach. If you are interested in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rewarding role then this is the position for you. This role will allow you to learn about the M&A process from beginning to end so that you can educate business owners on current market trends and what to expect through a process.  

Prior M&A knowledge/experience is a plus but not required. However, must have a keen interest in growing your knowledge base in this exciting field. You will have a chance to learn from some of the most experienced and successful deal makers in the industry to improve your skills and advance your career.

Job Description:

  • Within this role you will be working alongside other outreach specialists to prospect business owners within specified ‘area of interest’ and under the direction of a Managing Director.
  • You will be provided with data to work through but will occasionally be asked to venture outside of our databases when targeting specific businesses.
  • Calling and sending emails to business owners that match the demand from buyers within the middle market.
  • Maintaining a professional LinkedIn page as a means to connect and share information with business owners within our target market.
  • Generating calls with middle market business owners with our client’s senior bankers

Job Responsibilities:

  • Calling and sending emails to potential clients to display proof of out client’s success and recent market activity;
  • Providing input into the development of industry specific outreach and sales sequences
  • Researching various industries identified as ‘areas of interest’ and building middle market business owners list to reach out to;
  • Setting appointments between potential clients and our senior bankers to discuss sales process and our client’s value proposition;
  • Following up with long term prospects to develop a relationship that would produce an engagement in the future
  • Researching various market trends to educate business owners within specific industries on recent M&A activity and rationale for acquisitions;
  • Identifying the correct decision makers in an organization to assure communications remain confidential;
  • Discovering challenges for potential clients;
  • Meeting or exceeding all sales and performance goals;
  • Helping organize data and creating outbound calling, lead generation and marketing strategies;
  • Assisting in new business development efforts with potential prospects, originating and participating in new business calls and in meetings;
  • Maintaining meticulous records in designated CRM and related systems of all communications and contacts and preparing reports of results
  • Assisting in the management of systems and databases designed to most effectively source new deal opportunities;

The ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Solid inside/outside sales experience to management and c-suite level contacts
  • Self-motivated with the discipline to work independently
  • Personable and able to relate to a number of different client personalities
  • Proficient online research skills with the ability to pre-qualify prospects online
  • Firm understanding of marketing principles like SEO, PPC and social media
  • Tech-savy, the role requires the ability to transfer data between multiple platforms and in different formats
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize opportunities
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 products, specifically Excel
  • 2+ years of experience using a CRM, such as Salesforce, DealCloud,, and or others
  • 2+ years of experience using an online data provider such as ZoomInfo,, SourceScrub or others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills commensurate with managing a large number of prospects in varying stages of the sales cycle
  • Able to provide a high level of professionalism and customer service
  • Familiarity with investment banking, private equity or similar industry a plus
  • The ability to operate in a team-oriented environment
