Position Summary

The Data Integration Architect is part of the IT Enterprise Solution team which designs, creates, and implements strategic custom solutions for departments within a Health System. The Data Integration Architect serves as a team lead responsible for all technical design on back end data structures used for applications, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data warehousing. This role works on a variety of innovative solutions in a multi-disciplinary team with many departments and stakeholders throughout the health system.
 

Experienced with data structures, data modeling, data warehouse design, data transformation, ETL, data implementations, data storage and distribution. Experience with data analytics engines such as Apache Spark, Cloudera, or Alteryx preferred.

 

Architect, create, and present new analytical findings for use in solution design. Create reusable database platforms for use across multiple solutions for clinical and financial departments. Define the system architecture landscape, identify gaps between current and desired end-states, and deliver a comprehensive solution that will enable achievement of the desired outcomes.

Experienced developer and understanding of advanced programming concepts. Experience with database design for integrated applications, data marts, and machine learning platforms. Experience with Python preferable.

 

Excellent understanding of database design and analytics platforms. Designs and implements effective database solutions for applications, statistical analysis, and machine learning. Strong awareness of treating data as a reusable asset and incorporating into enterprise solution designs.

Skilled with evaluating database structural designs with client workflows and operations. Able to take business processes and translate into effective and re-usable data structures.

Strong communicator with technical and non-technical audiences. Communicate cross-departmentally to ensure consistent data interpretation.

Experience with industry standard medical data models, e.g. HL7, OMOP, ICD 9/10, and managing unstructured data a plus.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Architects, designs, manages, implements, builds, and supports Jackson Health System’s data interoperability exchange architecture. Provides project management, development, and implementation leadership for all JHS data integration functions, as directed by IT Leadership to support the organizational mission and strategic plan of the Health System. Provides analysis, diagnosis, monitoring, implementation, testing, upgrades / updates, maintenance, documentation, inventory, change management, security, audits and back-ups as outlined by management, to support the strategic information access requirements of the JHS and its subsidiaries. Assists the director and manager in the management and direction setting for the enterprise’s integration group including setting priorities, coordinating, and the reporting of group activities. Including mentoring staff, promoting teamwork and data sharing that enhances the organization. Assumes responsibility for collaborating with customers to gather requirements needed for system integration and data interoperability. Ensures that all interfaces are using industry standards like HL7 and X.12 record transaction formats. As new standards arise, like CCD, and others the incumbent must ensure that we are prepared to handle them and keep best practices always applied. Helps to implement integrated corporate and departmental objectives and ensures the department meets these objectives in a way that exceeds the system and customer expectations. Maintain, support and troubleshoot any interface related issues when it comes to business and clinical systems. Ensures reliability of cross-enterprise applications. Identifies risk and develops strategies to minimize or mitigate issues. Works with the management to insure that all JHS standards and requirements are being adhered to. Follows and enforces all operational policies and procedures. Provides management with feedback to assist in improving the efficiency of providing services to our customers, externally as well as within the department. Maintains up-to-date knowledge; researches, evaluates, and recommends emerging tools and system technologies to support business requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Environment

Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public. Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with occasional outdoor exposures.
