Position Overview
The Systems Administrator will build and maintain Linux systems on premise. This will include collaboration with both onshore and offshore teams for tasks such as code rollouts. You will also be installing, patching, and maintaining middleware for web applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage underlying system infrastructure, including physical and virtualization platforms, for hosting Linux servers
  • Build, install, troubleshoot, and maintain all aspects of Linux, as well as open source and purchased middleware products (including on prem and in the cloud) such as web servers, application servers, database servers, API management gateways, single sign-on software, identity management software, ETL software, and collaboration software
  • Monitor usability daily and respond quickly to any concerns
  • Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into production
  • Act as the primary point of contact for our offshore team, including coordinating code deploys and ensuring tasks are covered during shift turnovers
  • Perform server migrations from one platform to another
  • Provide operational support such as server monitoring, backups, patching, and other duties as required
  • Write scripts to automate administrative / deploy tasks utilizing a variety of languages including Ansible and Bash
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, including responding to help desk escalations after hours
  • Work on IT projects of varying size, both with the Web Infrastructure team and with other IT and business groups

Required Experience and Skills

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field. If no degree, then an additional 1 years of specific Linux server administration experience required
  • 1 year of IT support experience required
  • Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities required
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems required
  • Basic level of understanding of networks and databases required
  • Expreince with VMWare and managing VMWare
  • Expreince/exposure to Redhat Preferred
