Overview
The Technology Operations Architect is responsible for developing solutions to improve supportability and increase observability of our applications, platforms, and infrastructure technologies. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and forward-thinking technology leader with broad understanding and deep experience in monitoring, event and configuration management systems that will be leveraged to achieve operational excellence across the organization. This person is responsible for defining reference architectures that turn business and technology strategic needs into actionable solutions. This role provides thought leadership that anticipates strategic, organizational, and technical changes and its impacts. The ideal candidate should have the necessary coaching and mentoring skills to help grow the team which includes technical and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide thought leadership in the design of network infrastructure services to meet current and future business requirements and operational objectives
- Design, deliver, document, and convey solutions that will provide observability and service management for Cloud or on-premise environments with a focus on standard design patterns
- Partner across various IT and business teams to provide insight and technology recommendations that result in enterprise solutions that solve critical business problems
- Identify operational risks and plans to mitigate
- Ensure strategies, standards, and reference architectures are consistent and integrated across IT domains
- Provide level 3 support as needed to resolve the most complex and/or business impacting issues
- Define best practices for supporting recommended solutions and enforce relevant technical procedures and standards
- Assist with business case development and presentation to management in support of new technology initiatives
- Actively participate in creation of strategic technology roadmaps
Requirements
- Strong technical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Good experience with developing solutions that will promote proactive alerting and observability of our applications and infrastructure across both public and private cloud platforms
- Skilled in creating Enterprise Design Patterns
- Experience with developing solutions that leverage cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Propensity to maintain awareness of industry trends
- Ability to partner with architects, engineers, and project teams to assess requirements and recommend solutions
- Strong understanding and experience with APM and Web based synthetic monitoring tools and methodologies like Dynatrace
- Experiencing integrating solutions with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
- Experience with ITIL standards and frameworks
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Azure Arm Templates, etc.) in addition to scripting languages (Python, etc.)
- AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certifications preferred
- ITIL certification is preferred
