Job Title: Director of IT Operations

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director or Sr. Director of IT Operations to lead and manage infrastructure, network, and systems teams in a primarily on-premises Microsoft environment. This role oversees a team of approximately 15 IT professionals (including managers as well as individual contributors) and is responsible for ensuring high availability, business continuity, and operational excellence across all IT systems and services.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in systems, networking, and infrastructure, as well as exceptional communication and leadership skills to engage with executive leadership and the board of directors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the IT Operations team, including Network & Systems Administrators, Service Desk, Data, BI, and Analytics professionals.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the IT infrastructure, ensuring system stability, redundancy, and optimal performance in a Windows-based environment.
- Drive initiatives to strengthen network infrastructure, implement failover strategies, and build out new data centers.
- Enhance Disaster Recovery and Business Resiliency plans to ensure continuity of critical operations.
- Manage IT operating and capital budgets and oversee IT vendor relationships and contracts.
- Guide IT policy development and ensure adherence to compliance standards, particularly in the finance or insurance industries.
- Support cloud migration efforts and leverage cloud solutions where appropriate.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, regularly presenting updates, strategies, and recommendations to the executive team.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT Operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing teams responsible for network, systems, infrastructure, and data services.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft technologies in an on-premises environment.
- Strong background in network design, security, failover, and redundancy strategies.
- Hands-on experience building and managing data centers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and improve Disaster Recovery and Business Resiliency efforts.
- Experience managing IT budgets, vendors, and contracts.
- Executive presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and board members.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Collaborative leadership style with a focus on mentorship, accountability, and continuous improvement.
