Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid 4 days onsite in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Job-Type: Direct Hire (We can only consider US Citizens or Green Card Holders at this time)
Overview: We are supporting a high-impact client in the AI and enterprise IT space in building out their data and analytics team. This initiative is aimed at creating a modern cloud-based analytics stack to support AI-enabled dashboards using ThoughtSpot. This is a high-ownership opportunity to work directly with the CTO and take responsibility for building and launching the data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand raw data in on-prem SQL Server environments
- Identify relevant data for extraction and design structures optimized for analytics
- Design and manage ETL pipelines using Fivetran
- Extract and transfer on-prem SQL data into Google BigQuery
- Stand up a BigQuery environment from scratch, including project setup and security configuration
- Build and normalize tables and schemas in BigQuery
- Support future dashboarding and reporting in ThoughtSpot
- Consider long-term scalability, data governance, and schema design
Skills & Experience:
- Fivetran ETL: 3+ years of experience, including extracting data from on-prem SQL Servers
- Google BigQuery: 3+ years with proven experience building projects from the ground up
- SQL: Strong understanding of joins, normalization, and transformations
- Cloud Setup: Experience configuring Google Cloud Projects, IAM, and permissions for BigQuery
- BI Tooling (Bonus): Exposure to ThoughtSpot, Cognos, or similar modern BI tools
- Must be a self-starter capable of independent work in greenfield environments
- Comfortable being the sole data engineering expert in the organization during the project’s early phase
- Excellent communication and proactive problem-solving skills
