Job Title: Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) Analyst

Overview
The Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) Analyst is responsible for the design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the Epic Beaker CP application. This role partners closely with laboratory leadership, pathologists, clinicians, and IT teams to optimize workflows and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory operations within the Epic environment.
The analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for laboratory workflows and ensures alignment with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and Epic best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with laboratory stakeholders to gather and document business and clinical requirements.
- Analyze current-state workflows and design future-state workflows within Epic Beaker CP.
- Lead design sessions and recommend system solutions aligned with Epic Foundation build and best practices.
- Translate operational requirements into system specifications and configuration documentation.
- Configure and maintain Epic Beaker CP components, including:
- Test definitions and compendium build
- Orderables and result components
- Specimen source and collection workflows
- Instrument interfaces and middleware coordination
- Result routing, rules, and reporting
- Develop and maintain master files, profiles, and system parameters.
- Ensure build consistency across environments (DEV, TEST, PROD).
- Participate in change control and release management processes.
- Develop detailed test scripts and scenarios (unit, integrated, regression).
- Execute functional, integrated, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Support interface and instrument testing in collaboration with interface teams.
- Document issues, manage defect tracking, and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements during testing and validation.
- Support go-live planning and readiness activities.
- Provide elbow support during go-live and stabilization periods.
- Troubleshoot application issues and escalate as needed.
- Monitor system performance and recommend optimizations.
- Provide tier 2/3 application support.
- Analyze incidents, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
- Support upgrades, enhancements, and special projects.
- Participate in application roadmap planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including:
- Design decisions
- Build specifications
- Testing evidence
- Change control records
- Ensure system configurations support regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Adhere to organizational governance and security policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Information Systems, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) certification
- 5+ years of experience supporting Epic applications (preferably Beaker CP).
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows (core lab, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank preferred).
- Experience with system design, configuration, testing, and validation.
- Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP).
