Job Title: Enterprise Data Governance & AI Enablement Architect
Location: Remote
Job-Type: Contract to Hire
Salary Range: $150K – $175K
Position Overview:
Gravity IT is seeking an Enterprise Data Governance & AI Enablement Architect to design and operationalize governance frameworks across a modern hybrid data and AI ecosystem.
This role will establish the organization’s enterprise data governance operating model, ensuring data is trusted, compliant, discoverable, and AI-ready. The architect will define standards for metadata management, data quality, lineage, classification, and responsible AI governance while enabling secure and scalable use of enterprise data.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data governance frameworks, metadata architecture, and regulated data environments, along with an understanding of governance requirements for AI and machine learning platforms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise governance aligned with frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK and DCAM
- Establish data ownership models, stewardship programs, and domain accountability
- Define governance standards for data products and enterprise data assets
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, and compliance policies)
- Define enterprise metadata and catalog strategy
- Implement data catalog and lineage platforms such as Microsoft Purview
- Establish classification, tagging, and sensitivity labeling policies
- Enable end-to-end data lineage across analytics, BI, and AI platforms
- Architect automated data quality monitoring frameworks
- Define data quality SLAs, anomaly detection, and trust scoring models
- Embed data validation and quality gates into data pipelines
- Establish enterprise standards for data observability and monitoring
- Define governance standards for model lifecycle management
- Establish controls for training data lineage and traceability
- Implement frameworks supporting bias monitoring and model explainability
- Ensure policy enforcement for PII masking, access control, and data retention
- Align AI initiatives with enterprise compliance and risk management policies
- Implement metadata-driven governance policies
- Integrate governance controls into CI/CD data pipelines
- Enable automated classification, lineage capture, and sensitivity scanning
Required Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years’ experience in data governance, data management, or data architecture
- Experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks
- Hands-on experience with data catalog and lineage platforms
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Strong understanding of AI/ML lifecycle governance and responsible AI practices
- Deep knowledge of data quality management and observability frameworks
