Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives (Procurement Excellence PMO)

Overview
A leading organization is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives to lead its Procurement Excellence PMO and drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for elevating procurement capabilities through standardized processes, tools, governance frameworks, and systems to achieve best-in-class performance.
This leader will partner across business units, finance, and supply chain stakeholders to align procurement strategies with broader organizational goals while delivering measurable value and continuous improvement across the procurement lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Procurement Excellence PMO, driving strategic transformation initiatives and long-term roadmap execution
- Develop and implement standardized procurement processes, tools, frameworks, and governance models
- Partner with senior leadership to align procurement strategy with enterprise objectives
- Lead development and execution of multi-year strategic plans, incorporating market trends and industry benchmarking
- Provide strategic insights, reporting, and recommendations to executive leadership and board-level stakeholders
- Drive workforce strategy, including talent planning, development, and organizational capability building
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders, HR, and communications teams to support strategic initiatives
- Oversee internal and external communications, including executive messaging, presentations, and branding efforts
- Foster relationships with external partners and industry peers to inform strategy and identify best practices
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, ensuring strong engagement and performance outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement operations and lifecycle processes
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategy, operations, or procurement-related roles
- 4+ years of leadership or people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in process improvement and change management methodologies
- Workforce planning or organizational strategy experience
- Background in regulated industries such as utilities, energy, or similar sectors
- Strong strategic planning, data analysis, and benchmarking capabilities
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment
- Experience delivering executive-level presentations and communications
- Demonstrated leadership in organizational transformation and capability building
Compensation
- Salary range: $159,000 – $215,000 (target range; may vary based on experience and qualifications)
- Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation
Work Environment
- Hybrid model: combination of remote work and onsite presence in Oakland, CA
