Job Title: QA (Automation)
Type: Contract
Location: Latin America
We are seeking a highly technical Backend Automation QA Engineer to support a growing engineering organization focused on modernizing its QA capabilities and moving toward a more automation-driven environment.
This role sits within the Core / DevOps team, supporting a large-scale cloud migration from ECS to EKS and ensuring the reliability of backend services, APIs, and microservices as they evolve.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks with a strong focus on backend/API testing
- Write and execute API test scripts, then integrate them into scalable automation frameworks
- Validate microservices architecture, ensuring proper communication between services and APIs
- Perform integration and performance testing to ensure systems scale and perform under load
- Partner closely with engineering teams to test services post-migration (ECS ? EKS)
- Help transition the team from manual API testing to fully programmatic automation
- Contribute to the adoption of AI-driven automation and performance testing practices
- Strong experience as a Backend Automation QA Engineer or similar role
- Hands-on experience with API testing and integration testing
- Programming experience in Java and TypeScript or JavaScript
- Experience with Playwright (or willingness to learn) for automation frameworks
- Experience with performance testing (JMeter, Gatling, k6, or similar)
- Ability to write clean, maintainable test scripts and frameworks
- Experience testing microservices and distributed systems
Nice to have experience
- Experience with AWS (CloudWatch, ECS/EKS) or similar cloud environments
- Familiarity with Datadog or other monitoring tools
- Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation
- Exposure to Selenium or UI testing
- Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
- Exposure to AI-driven testing or intelligent automation tools
