Senior Desktop Engineer (Endpoint Management) Remote
Overview
The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for deploying, managing, and supporting enterprise endpoint technologies across distributed environments. This role focuses on maintaining secure, compliant, and healthy endpoint systems through modern endpoint management platforms, automation, and best practices. The position works closely with technical leadership to evaluate, implement, and optimize endpoint management solutions while serving as a mentor to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage endpoint devices throughout their lifecycle, including software packaging, deployment, patch management, and administration platform maintenance.
- Design and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, security, compliance, and endpoint management processes.
- Configure and maintain Operating System Deployment (OSD) task sequences and imaging solutions.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades, system changes, and implementations while adhering to established change management processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex endpoint, infrastructure, networking, and security-related issues in enterprise environments.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate, implement, and support end-user technologies.
- Participate in or lead technical project meetings and initiatives.
- Research, test, and evaluate emerging endpoint management technologies and solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Desktop Engineers.
- Perform system administration activities within Windows Active Directory environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong scripting experience with PowerShell and batch scripting.
- Advanced troubleshooting and administration experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and enterprise endpoint management practices.
- Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support users at all organizational levels.
Preferred Skills
- Experience administering Jamf for Apple device management.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Cloud Management Gateway (CMG).
- Familiarity with endpoint automation and self-service technologies.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- 5+ years of desktop engineering or enterprise desktop support experience.
- 3+ years of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) administration, including software deployment, package creation, and operating system deployment.
- Experience administering Microsoft Intune, including Windows Autopilot.
- Experience with networking concepts, wireless technologies, LAN environments, SQL, scripting, and troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure.
