Data Engineer / Analyst

Overview: We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our clients team. The Data Engineer (DE) will be an essential member of the data operation team whose primary objectives are managing internal identity management system, data migration and the analysis of external and internal data sources ensuring that ingested data can answer all proposed business needs. The ideal candidate must possess strong SQL and ETL skills to successfully develop and manage complex data requirements. The DE will work closely with Information Security, Data Engineering and business stakeholders to support data movement, reporting, troubleshooting, and database development activities, and the DE will play a crucial part in our clients evolution into a data driven organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SQL Development & Database Support
- Develop, modify, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and scripts.
- Support database-related initiatives, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Assist in the design and implementation of database solutions to support InfoSec requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, integrity, and performance issues.
- Perform data analysis and validation activities to ensure accuracy and consistency.
SSIS Development & Support
- Serve as the primary support resource for InfoSec SSIS packages and ETL processes.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve SSIS package failures and job scheduling issues.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain SSIS packages to support business and security data requirements.
- Investigate data load issues and implement corrective actions to ensure successful execution.
- Document SSIS package functionality, dependencies, and operational procedures.
Data Integration & Reporting
- Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from multiple source systems.
- Assist with data integration efforts across security, compliance, and operational platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop data solutions.
- Create and maintain reports, datasets, and data validation processes as needed.
- Support audit and compliance requests through timely delivery of accurate data.
Operational Support
- Participate in production support activities, including incident response and root cause analysis.
- Monitor scheduled jobs and workflows to ensure reliability and availability.
- Maintain documentation related to SQL development, SSIS packages, and support procedures.
- Follow established change management and deployment processes.
- Assist with testing and implementation of new database and ETL solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE/:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or another applicable field is preferred.
- 3+ years in SQL development
- 3+ years’ data architecture and data modeling experience. Kimble methodology preferred.
- 1+ years’ using data modeling tools such as ER/Studio
- 3 years Hands-on experience developing and supporting SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) packages.
- Experience troubleshooting ETL processes and data integration issues.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, joins, and stored procedures.
- Strong analytics, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
