Project Analyst
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly adaptable Project Analyst to support a growing portfolio operations team within a large enterprise environment. This team supports major capital and construction-related programs across multiple portfolios and is responsible for helping project teams stay organized, aligned, and equipped with accurate reporting, financial visibility, governance, and process support.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, improving processes, building structure, and supporting project teams in a fast-paced environment. The team is still evolving, so the right person must be comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and wearing multiple hats.
This is not a traditional Project Manager role. It is a hands-on analyst role supporting portfolio-level reporting, project tracking, financial data, process improvement, tools, documentation, and stakeholder follow-up.
Responsibilities
- Support portfolio-level reporting across multiple large project portfolios.
- Assist with project tracking, governance, financial reporting, resource reporting, and executive-level updates.
- Build, maintain, and improve Excel-based trackers, reports, dashboards, and project data files.
- Analyze project, financial, resource, and status data to identify gaps, trends, risks, and reporting needs.
- Support process improvement initiatives across project teams and portfolios.
- Help standardize tools, templates, trackers, and reporting processes.
- Create, update, and document standard operating procedures and process documentation.
- Work with project managers and program teams to collect missing data, validate information, and meet reporting deadlines.
- Support ad hoc reporting, documentation, SharePoint, Power BI, or process-related projects as needed.
- Present findings or updates to stakeholders when required.
- Work through changing priorities and help build structure within a growing team.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Project Analyst, PMO Analyst, Portfolio Analyst, Business Analyst, Project Coordinator, or similar project support role.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, pivot charts, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data cleanup, and reporting.
- Experience working with project trackers, dashboards, reporting tools, or large data sets.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to support project managers, program managers, or portfolio leaders with reporting and follow-up.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with stakeholders to request updates, clarify information, and drive accountability.
- Ability to adapt quickly and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify gaps or suggest process improvements.
- Stable work history and polished professional presentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Power BI experience.
- Power Query experience.
- SharePoint experience.
- Experience building reports, dashboards, or trackers from scratch.
- Experience supporting financial tracking, budget reporting, or resource reporting.
- Experience in a PMO, construction, capital projects, enterprise project delivery, operations, or portfolio management environment.
- Experience documenting SOPs or improving internal processes.
- Exposure to automation or workflow improvement tools.
