Sr. Desktop Engineer

Overview
The Senior Desktop Engineer will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing the enterprise-wide migration from Windows 24H2 to Windows 25H2. This individual will leverage Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft Intune, PowerShell, and modern endpoint management technologies to deploy operating system upgrades, troubleshoot deployment issues, and ensure a seamless end-user experience. While this role utilizes many of the same endpoint management tools as the Endpoint Engineering team, its primary focus is delivering the Windows upgrade initiative and supporting enterprise desktop infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning, testing, deployment, and support of the enterprise Windows 24H2 to Windows 25H2 upgrade initiative.

Deploy operating system upgrades using SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, and Operating System Deployment (OSD) task sequences.

Create, maintain, and troubleshoot OS deployment packages, task sequences, drivers, and deployment collections.

Utilize PowerShell to automate deployment tasks, reporting, and remediation activities.

Troubleshoot complex Windows operating system, application compatibility, hardware, driver, and deployment issues.

Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Networking, and Endpoint Engineering teams to ensure successful deployments.

Support software deployments, patch management, and endpoint configuration throughout the migration.

Monitor deployment success metrics and proactively resolve failures.

Participate in pilot testing, user acceptance testing, rollout planning, and post-deployment support.

Follow established change management processes while executing enterprise-wide upgrades.

Provide documentation and knowledge transfer for deployment procedures and operational support.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience administering Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM).

Advanced PowerShell scripting skills.

Experience deploying and supporting enterprise Windows operating system upgrades.

Experience with Operating System Deployment (OSD) task sequences and imaging.

Strong troubleshooting experience with Windows desktops, application deployments, drivers, and enterprise endpoint technologies.

Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
Preferred Skills
-
Microsoft Intune administration.
-
Windows Autopilot.
-
Microsoft Cloud Management Gateway (CMG).

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise desktop refreshes or OS migrations.

Experience with endpoint security and compliance tools.

Experience with Jamf is a plus.
