Software Engineer II
Job Type: Contract
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid — 2–3 days/week onsite)

We’re partnering with a major financial technology company to hire a Software Engineer II for a trust & safety engineering team focused on high-risk interactions — protecting customer accounts from account takeover (ATO) and other fraud. The team sits at the center of how the company decides, in real time, whether a customer’s behavior looks risky enough to warrant additional verification.

This isn’t a generic backend-Java opening, and it isn’t a pure rules-writing role either; instead, it splits between the two: translating fraud, risk, and policy requirements into precise, testable decision logic, and building the backend services that run it in production.

What We’re Looking For
Success in this role is about specificity and real-world AI fluency more than any one tech stack. We’re looking for someone who can speak concretely about a requirement they personally translated into rules or code — not just “worked with stakeholders” — and who already treats AI coding tools as a working part of how they build software, not a buzzword. A self-starter comfortable owning both halves of the job: representing policy accurately in code, and keeping the services that run it fast and reliable.
