Job Title: Release Engineer
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid)
Type: Contract to Hire
Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (BitBucket, TeamCity, etc.) to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Manage release branching strategies, merge schedules, and versioning conventions across multiple teams and repositories
- Coordinate release planning and scheduling with engineering, QA, and product stakeholders
- Own the release runbook process — documenting deployment steps and rollback procedures
- Monitor deployments and drive post-release validation; lead root cause analysis for release failures
- Collaborate with platform/DevOps teams to maintain environment parity between dev, staging, and production
- Drive continuous improvement in release frequency, lead time, and deployment success rate
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in a release engineering, DevOps, or build engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools
- Solid understanding of Git workflows — branching models, tagging, cherry-pick strategies, and conflict resolution
- Familiarity with containerization and o
- rchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or similar
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple simultaneous release trains
Nice to have Skills:
- Experience with cloud-native deployment platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Knowledge in the insurance industry, especially P&C
