Job Title: Business Analyst (TORUS) – Temporary Contractor
Location: Salt Lake County, UT (Hybrid/Remote Possible)
Job Type: 12-Month Contract
Salary: $60

Overview:
We are seeking a Business Analyst contractor to support the client’s tax platform. Business Analyst with requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and documentation for technology initiatives. This role will help bridge business and technical teams by eliciting, analyzing, and translating business needs into actionable user stories and requirements. The contractor will collaborate with stakeholders and IT teams to ensure solutions align with organizational goals and improve business processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision

Identify project stakeholders, user classes, and system requirements
-
Gather user requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases, and other techniques
-
Document and analyze requirements to define project scope, impact, and success metrics

Support Agile processes including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives

Create technical user stories for development teams

Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements

Evaluate and improve requirements gathering processes

Assist with research and evaluation of software and hardware solutions

Participate in QA validation of implemented or purchased solutions
-
Translate conceptual user requirements into clear functional requirements for technical teams

Develop process models, diagrams, prototypes, and workflow documentation

Conduct peer reviews of business requirements and documentation
-
Track requirements throughout the project lifecycle and communicate changes to stakeholders

Support documentation and knowledge transfer efforts
Required Experience & Skills:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, or related field

4+ years of relevant business analysis experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Experience creating technical user stories and requirements documentation
-
Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies

Experience with requirements elicitation, modeling, verification, and documentation
-
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
-
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
-
Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams
-
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage requirements throughout a project lifecycle
Nice to Have:

Experience working in government or public sector environments
-
Experience creating process models, workflow diagrams, or prototypes
-
Familiarity with project management tools and requirements documentation tools
-
Experience supporting QA validation or solution testing
