Job Title: AI Engineer (Hands-On / Execution-Focused)

Overview
Our customer is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to build and operationalize a foundational AI capability across existing systems and workflows. This is a highly hands-on role focused on execution, integration, and delivering practical AI-driven solutions—not high-level strategy or vision-setting.

This position was created to bring in a proven practitioner who can move beyond experimentation and clearly articulate and apply the most impactful AI advancements from the past several years.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement AI capabilities within existing enterprise systems and workflows
• Integrate AI solutions to drive workflow automation and improve operational efficiency
• Build and contribute to the development of an MCP gateway and related architecture
• Translate recent advancements in AI into practical, production-ready applications
• Evaluate current processes and identify opportunities for AI-driven enhancements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and adoption
• Deliver solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
• Strong hands-on engineering background with a focus on implementation and delivery
• Deep experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) strongly preferred
• Ability to clearly explain and apply key AI developments from the past 3+ years (e.g., LLMs, agent frameworks, workflow automation)
• Experience integrating AI into existing systems rather than building net-new platforms from scratch
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI-driven workflow automation solutions
• Familiarity with modern AI frameworks, orchestration tools, and APIs
• Background working in environments transitioning from consulting-led development to in-house ownership
