Schedule: Standard business hours with participation in a shared on-call rotation

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join an enterprise Infrastructure & Operations team supporting business-critical applications. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable infrastructure while ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of production environments.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in Azure cloud infrastructure, production support, automation, and monitoring. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving operational efficiency, and working with modern cloud technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and support scalable Azure infrastructure solutions for enterprise applications.
  • Own the day-to-day operational health of production systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting infrastructure and application incidents.
  • Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices, including monitoring, automation, alerting, and performance optimization.
  • Proactively identify infrastructure risks, monitoring gaps, capacity concerns, and reliability issues before they impact production.
  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools, including Datadog or similar platforms, to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across networking, compute, storage, cloud infrastructure, and application environments.
  • Partner closely with Database Engineers, Release Engineers, and other infrastructure teams to support deployments and operational improvements.
  • Manage infrastructure work and operational initiatives through Azure DevOps or similar work-tracking platforms.
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, scalability, and overall system performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related production support role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience owning production environments, including operational support and incident response.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD and work management platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, servers, storage, cloud infrastructure, and application environments.
  • Experience developing automation with PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple technical teams.
  • Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
  • Experience with caching or in-memory data platforms.
  • Experience with workload automation or enterprise job scheduling tools.
  • Background supporting enterprise or regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.
