Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner to lead the definition, delivery, and implementation of a strategic enterprise software platform focused on cost allocation, financial tracking, schedule performance analytics, and reporting.

This role will lead product execution across a complex, multi-system environment and will serve as the critical connection point between business stakeholders, technology teams, data resources, and implementation partners.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of product ownership, business process analysis, data integration, and technical product delivery experience. This person must be comfortable translating complex business requirements into actionable product requirements while also understanding data flows, integrations, calculations, and validation.

This is approximately a 60% business/product-focused and 40% technical/data-focused role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own execution of the approved product roadmap and drive successful product delivery.

  • Elicit, document, analyze, refine, and maintain business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation.

  • Build, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring traceability from business objectives through delivery.

  • Analyze business processes, workflows, business rules, financial calculations, data requirements, and operational procedures.

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and working sessions to gather requirements, resolve ambiguities, and drive alignment.

  • Partner with developers, architects, analysts, testers, data integration teams, business SMEs, and vendor partners to deliver product enhancements.

  • Define business requirements for data integrations and validate mapping logic and transformation rules.

  • Review and verify source-to-target mappings, data transformations, reconciliation results, reporting outputs, and business rule execution.

  • Validate delivered functionality against approved requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and data validation.

  • Partner with technical teams to ensure data integrity, governance, auditability, and operational readiness.

  • Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions, and implementation challenges and proactively communicate them to stakeholders.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.

  • Support implementation, onboarding, training, change management, and adoption activities.

  • Communicate product roadmap status, implementation progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and modernization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of related professional experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience in product ownership, product delivery leadership, or business systems implementation.

  • Strong experience with requirements elicitation, documentation, refinement, and backlog management.

  • Business process analysis and workflow design experience.

  • Experience supporting enterprise data integration initiatives.

  • Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and data governance.

  • Ability to review and validate source-to-target mappings and integration outcomes.

  • Experience working with complex business rules, calculations, and decision logic.

  • Strong stakeholder facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience with Agile software delivery methodologies.

  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of custom software products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with financial systems or financial data management.

  • Financial reporting, analytics, or business intelligence experience.

  • Experience with cost allocation methodologies and financial calculations.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit controls, and data governance.

  • Utility or energy industry experience.

  • Experience with interconnection processes, transmission, generation, or related utility operations.

  • Familiarity with FERC or state-regulated business processes.

  • Experience supporting systems of record and multi-system enterprise integrations.

  • Experience working with platforms that integrate data from multiple enterprise applications.

  • Experience validating reporting, data transformations, and reconciliation processes.

  • Knowledge of enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.

  • Experience with large-scale business transformation or modernization initiatives.

  • CSPO, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent Agile certification.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Product Owner who can operate comfortably between business, technology, data, and finance. They should be able to lead requirements and stakeholder conversations while possessing enough technical and data expertise to challenge assumptions, validate integrations and calculations, and ensure the delivered solution meets business objectives.

Strong candidates will have experience delivering complex enterprise software products involving multiple systems, data integrations, business rules, and highly collaborative stakeholder environments.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment in Charlotte, NC.

  • Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location.

  • Occasional travel may be required for stakeholder meetings, workshops, training, and implementation activities.
