Tittle: Principal Cloud Architect
Location: Salt Lake City, UT – Hybrid
Position Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $150,000-175,000
Principal DevOps Engineer to help architect and drive our cloud and AI infrastructure strategy across AWS and private cloud environments. This role sets the platform standards that make Bedrock-backed agents, agentic workflows on AgentCore, and high-throughput LLM serving reliable, secure, and cost-efficient at enterprise scale. You’ll work closely with architecture leadership, guide engineering teams, and establish best practices for delivering production-grade AI platforms.
What You Will Do
- Architect and communicate cloud and AI platform strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor engineers, manage work, and set technical direction for cloud infrastructure and AI platform practices.
- Partner with the Architect Owner and Enterprise Architect to define, design, and validate solution architectures for platform and AI application workloads on AWS.
- Define platform standards for AI workload deployment, including:
- model versioning and promotion strategies
- inference serving patterns
- cost-per-inference governance
- AI API reliability and resiliency standards
- Administer Amazon EKS at enterprise scale, including multi-cluster federation and AI workload scheduling policies.
- Design observability strategies using Dynatrace, including service performance SLOs, cost dashboards, and incident response playbooks.
Background and Skills You Will Need
- 8+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles.
- 8+ years administering Amazon EKS / Kubernetes at enterprise scale.
- Strong scripting skills with Bash and Python (8+ years hands-on).
- 8+ years managing CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar).
- 8+ years working with AWS services, including EC2, VPC, S3, EKS, IAM, CloudFront, ALB/NLB, and RDS.
- 8+ years designing Infrastructure as Code and cloud-native architecture using Terraform and AWS CDK.
- 8+ years administering Linux systems.
- Proven mastery of AWS cloud and AI infrastructure, including Bedrock, AgentCore, and cloud-native architecture patterns.
- Strong experience with Dynatrace and enterprise observability strategy, including monitoring AI workloads.
- Knowledge of CIS, NIST, and SOX compliance frameworks and audit processes.
- Strong experience with centralized logging (e.g., CloudWatch, Dynatrace).
- Strong networking foundation including VPC, Transit Gateway, security groups, load balancing, and routing.
- Solid grasp of security governance and compliance for cloud and AI systems.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers across multiple levels.
- Experience deploying and operating agentic AI systems on AWS, including AgentCore and Bedrock Agents.
- Familiarity with service discovery tools such as AWS Cloud Map and Consul.
