Sr. Project Manager (no relocation offered)

Job Description (Hybrid Charlotte, NC)

Job Summary

We’re looking for a senior Project Manager to drive strategic delivery within a financial services / asset management environment — leading technology implementations, operating model change, and transformation programs end to end. This is a hands-on delivery role: you own the plan, the governance, and the relationships that keep a complex project moving, especially when a stakeholder isn’t making it easy.

What the Role Requires

  • Real platform implementation experience — an investment management platform (portfolio/order management, risk, or similar), not just generic “IT projects.” Data migration, interfaces, UAT, cutover — the manager wants someone who has lived through a go-live, not just scheduled one.
  • Comfort managing up and across without a mandate. The manager specifically flagged this as the differentiator: this person will regularly sit between senior stakeholders who disagree, and needs to drive a decision rather than let it stall.
  • Governance discipline that’s second nature — RAID logs, steering committee reporting, change control — not something they have to be reminded to do.
  • 10+ years PM experience in financial services or asset management; Agile/Waterfall/hybrid fluency; standard toolset (MS Project, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, Clarity).

Core Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of strategic projects and platform implementations — scoping, planning, execution, testing, go-live, and closure.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (business, technology, data, operations, vendors) and keep them aligned to milestones and dependencies.
  • Run governance: steering committees, status reporting, RAID logs, change control, and executive-ready communication.
  • Manage stakeholder friction directly — surface risk early, broker disagreements, and keep the project moving without escalating everything.

Ideal Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, technology, or related field.
  • Track record of leading platform or transformation projects inside an asset manager, bank, or similar regulated financial services firm.
  • Comfortable being judged on outcomes with senior stakeholders in the room, not just process adherence.
