Overview
The position of Creative Design Manager will be primarily responsible hands on design and management of the creative design team, including establishing the brand look and feel for, designing communications that fit the brand, executing the brand look and feel among various media, and gaining consensus of the brand among stakeholders. The position includes creation and production of collateral promoting the portfolio of boating lifestyle products for stores and the corporate brand, as well as executing production of online and offline marketing materials to produce a strongly branded suite of materials with excellent problem-solving skills and interactive approach to design. This role will also provide back up support to project trafficking.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage design team including providing oversight, feedback, coaching and career development, and handling reviews/compensation of direct reports.
  • Establishing oneself as a role model for direct reports.
  • Responsible for visualizing ways to design the brand among various media to achieve the most responsive and effective communications.
  • Conceptualize and design of solutions from concept to completion. Excellent working understanding of layout, type and color, working proficiently in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and other Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Creation and design of all online and offline media and collateral. Collaborate with all marketing team members to deliver cohesive designs for marketing campaigns for all types of media.
  • Analyze the artistic needs between the field and the marketing team to ensure fit and quality for overall branding and client expectations.
  • Supervise and implement new creative in the design development process for projects that appear in print, email, web and other multimedia jobs.
  • Edit and proof promotional or publicity copy for print or electronic publications.
  • Manage supplier relations including print, trade shows, and outdoor advertising.
  • Manage all jobs for release to Printer including uploading PDFs to ftp sites, color proof approvals, in-site approval and press checks. Handle coordination of vendors and production schedule/process for faster turnaround, at lowest cost, without error, at the highest quality output, costing projects to ensure marketing budget is maximized. 
  • Manage own work and vendors to established deadlines.
  • Manage archiving of files and storing of job jackets
  • Assist with creation of presentations, webinars and other sales and marketing support materials
  • to build brand awareness.
  • Ensure consistent branding at all stores, shows and events. This includes logos,
  • color, style and all other areas that are required to create consistency. Manage initiatives to roll out brand and gain branding consensus among stores.
  • Achieve quality and consistency of brand.
  • Support and work on all other tasks deemed necessary to the team’s success.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years in Graphics Production, with 5 years managing both creative workflow process and/or Production/Graphic Designers
  • Print Media background
  • Experience in Digital/ Web Media a plus
  • Expert knowledge of creative productivity suites e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, lnDesign, Photoshop
  • Bachelor’s degree with background in marketing/communication and/or a qualification from specialized school in design and a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar creative technical role.
  • Superior written/ verbal communication skills
  • Advanced layout and typography skills
  • Sophisticated sense of design, photography and typography
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office tools
  • Collaboration and presentation skills
  • Boating experience a plus
