Job Title: Functional Analyst – Financial Systems & Reporting
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Job Type: Contract
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Functional Analyst to support the analysis, configuration, quality assurance, and support of enterprise-level financial systems and reporting applications. This role will focus on budgeting and forecasting processes and play a key part in supporting cloud-based financial solutions (such as Anaplan) and in-unit applications. The ideal candidate will combine financial acumen with strong analytical and communication skills to deliver effective, scalable business solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and end users to identify business needs and translate them into functional application requirements—particularly in the areas of financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting.

Assist with the creation, testing, and implementation of financial templates and models within cloud-based tools (e.g., Anaplan; prior Anaplan experience not required).

Develop a deep understanding of the business landscape and product offerings to better interpret and apply financial insights.

Leverage analysis to help drive strategic, data-informed improvements within Finance and across business units.

Provide second-level support for in-unit and reporting applications, resolving escalated issues and ensuring smooth operation.

Maintain strong version control and documentation to ensure system integrity and business continuity.

Draft functional requirements and specifications, facilitate stakeholder signoff, and validate system deliverables.

Serve as a key liaison between Finance and IT/development teams to ensure clarity and alignment on project goals and system functionality.

Design and execute functional test plans; coordinate system integration testing with other analysts.

Lead or contribute to special projects and reporting initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field.

2+ years of experience in finance, business analysis, or a functional analyst role.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, advanced formulas (e.g., IF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP), and data manipulation.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated success in developing user stories, system requirements, and process flow documentation.

Experience designing user interfaces or mockups with clearly defined functionality.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional environments.

Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
