Position: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Pompano Beach, FL or Sun City, FL
Onsite Requirements: 5 days per week
Position Overview
Our client is looking for a hands-on CFO to help spearhead the integration of a recent major acquisition and lead the business through its next stage of growth. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, with the ability to navigate the complexities of project-based accounting, inventory management, multi-channel sales, and cash flow optimization across two distinct yet synergistic business models. The CFO will work closely with the Board of Directors, operations leadership, and sales teams to drive profitability, ensure fiscal discipline and support sustainable growth. The CFO will lead the finance, human resources and IT teams for the business. We are looking for someone with technical finance expertise (accounting, treasury, tax), strategic thinking and leadership chops.
Day-to-Day Tasks and Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Partner with the Board Chairman and executive team to set company-wide strategic direction and division-level growth objectives.
- Provide division-specific financial analysis to inform bidding, pricing, and investment decisions in both construction and eCommerce operations.
- Translate long term strategic goals into 1-year operating plans across all functional disciplines.
- Evaluate ROI for capital expenditures, marketing initiatives, technology investments, and expansion opportunities.
Team Leadership & Management
- Assess current personnel/team, define/refine roles and responsibilities as required, identify talent gaps, build and execute talent acquisition strategy to plug gaps to reach 5-year growth objectives.
- Develop a strong employee value proposition (“EVP”) to attract/grow/retain the best talent.
- Provide clear goals, objectives and regular performance feedback to each team member – provide strong leadership, coaching, training and support to help company and individual team members achieve their goals while holding team accountable for results.
Financial Management – Corporate
- Oversee treasury functions, cash flow forecasting, and capital structure optimization.
- Build and manage annual budgets aligned to corporate strategy and financial goals.
- Define/Review KLI, KPI and financial metrics and build reporting mechanism to provide monthly and quarterly progress updates to Board of Directors.
- Work diligently to identify capital investments that drive growth.
- Keep a sharp eye on SG&A expenses to expand EBITDA margins.
- Manage cash flow effectively via tight control of AR outstanding and weekly AP monitoring.
- Direct all budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities for both divisions.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis at both consolidated and divisional levels.
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance, accounting, human resources and information technology staff across divisions.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with operations, sales, and marketing teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement and professional development within the finance, HR, and IT teams.
Financial Management – Specialty Construction Division
- Oversee project-based accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, and margin analysis.
- Monitor project budgets, change orders, and revenue recognition in compliance with construction accounting standards.
- Manage bonding capacity, insurance programs, and relationships with banks, sureties, and vendors.
- Support operational leaders in forecasting labor, materials, and equipment needs for optimal cash flow.
Financial Management – B2B eCommerce/Catalog Division
- Oversee inventory accounting, purchasing, and supply chain cost management.
- Monitor gross margin performance, SKU profitability, and product lifecycle metrics.
- Manage sales channel profitability, including online marketplaces, catalog orders, and direct sales.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition for product sales and alignment with eCommerce accounting best practices.
- Partner with marketing and sales to evaluate promotional ROI and customer acquisition costs.
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of functional finance experience.
- Minimum 8 years of senior financial leadership, leading team of 5+.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing construction/project-based accounting.
- Proven ability to manage cash flow, inventory, and margin performance across multiple divisions.
- Strong consolidation financial statement preparation in accordance with US GAAP.
- Strong track record with banking, bonding, and insurance relationships.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and reviewing internal controls.
- Significant experience in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and readiness, communications, and coordination with independent accounting firm for annual audits.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a business-partner mindset.
- Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300, Foundation).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing across all levels of the organization.
