Job Title: Data Scientist
Location: Utah (onsite/hybrid)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join a Risk Analytics team, specializing in credit risk modeling and portfolio analytics. In this role, you will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to assess risk, optimize underwriting, and improve portfolio performance. Your work will directly shape credit decisioning, customer accessibility, and business growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and deploy credit risk models and strategies (underwriting, scorecards, loss forecasting).
- Engineer and optimize features using internal data, payment behaviors, and external credit bureau sources.
- Monitor portfolio performance across customer and merchant segments; build dashboards to track delinquency, losses, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Partner with Risk leadership to design credit policies balancing growth, access, and stability.
- Deliver insights and recommendations to senior leadership to guide strategy and decision-making.
- Support stress testing, risk segmentation, and scenario analysis.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience programming in Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, XGBoost).
- 2+ years’ experience with SQL (Snowflake experience a plus).
- Proven experience in credit risk analytics, underwriting, or portfolio management.
- Strong problem-solving, independent work skills, and ability to balance growth, risk, and profitability.
Nice to Have Experience:
- Experience with credit bureau data (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion).
- Knowledge of credit lifecycle processes (originations, collections, recovery, forecasting).
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory considerations in credit decisioning.
- Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline.
