Job Title:  PHP Full Stack Developer – OroCommerce
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract

About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned Full Stack Developer with deep experience in OroCommerce to lead the development and optimization of our next-generation B2B eCommerce platform.

As we transition from our legacy system to OroCommerce, you’ll work alongside a system integrator during deployment, then take ownership as we build out our internal team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of business strategy and scalable technical architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect & Build: Partner with the Solutions Architect to design and implement robust, secure, and scalable features using OroCommerce.

  • Customization: Extend OroCommerce functionality through custom modules and third-party integrations—balancing out-of-the-box features with tailored development.

  • Front-End: Develop intuitive user experiences using Twig, JavaScript, and CSS.

  • Back-End: Build and maintain custom bundles, APIs, and services within Oro’s Symfony-based framework.

  • Database: Design and optimize schemas using MySQL or PostgreSQL, ensuring high performance and data integrity.

  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and Business teams to deliver cohesive solutions.

  • Mentorship: Support the growth of junior developers and promote a culture of clean, maintainable code.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and contribute to continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously evolve the platform’s capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:

  • 5+ years in full stack development with PHP/Symfony

  • 3+ years working directly with OroCommerce

  • Technical Proficiency:

  • Object-oriented design, strong in PHP, Symfony, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

  • Solid experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and database design

  • Frameworks & Tools:

  • OroCommerce, Doctrine ORM, Twig, RESTful APIs

  • Testing & CI/CD:

  • Proficient in PHPUnit, functional/integration testing (Symfony Web TestCase, Behat)

  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Version Control:

  • Strong Git skills and experience with collaborative workflows

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Excellent communication—able to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders

    Preferred Qualifications

    • OroCommerce Developer Certification (or equivalent)

    • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments

    • Experience in Agile/Scrum or SAFe Agile methodologies

    • Knowledge of B2B eCommerce business logic and workflows
