Databricks Architect – Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Databricks Architect to join our delivery team, guiding clients in architecting, optimizing, and governing modern data platforms centered around Databricks. In this role, you will define architectural strategy, lead the design of scalable and secure Databricks-based solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise data, analytics, and AI/ML initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with executives, solution architects, data engineers, and data scientists to deliver high-impact solutions that unlock business value.

Key Responsibilities

· Consulting & Client Leadership: Partner directly with client stakeholders to understand strategic business objectives, define Databricks platform roadmaps, and recommend best practices for implementation and governance.

· Architecture Design: Design and document enterprise-grade Databricks architectures, including data ingestion, transformation, ML pipelines, Delta Lake storage layers, and integration with cloud-native services.

· Data Platform Strategy: Lead architectural decisions to ensure scalability, cost efficiency, security, and performance across the Databricks ecosystem.

· Solution Oversight: Provide technical leadership to development teams, ensuring that solutions follow established architectural patterns, security standards, and operational requirements.

· Advanced Data Modeling: Oversee the creation of optimized data models and schemas for analytics, BI, and ML, leveraging Databricks SQL and Delta Lake best practices.

· AI/ML Enablement: Collaborate with data science teams to architect pipelines for feature engineering, model training, deployment, and MLOps automation within Databricks.

· Performance Optimization: Analyze workloads, optimize cluster configurations, and fine-tune Spark and SQL jobs for high performance at scale.

· Migration & Modernization: Lead the migration of legacy data platforms to Databricks, including ETL/ELT workflow reengineering and cloud-native redesign.

· Governance & Security: Define and enforce governance models, security frameworks, and compliance strategies for Databricks workspaces, data access, and operational processes.

· Automation & DevOps Integration: Incorporate CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation tools to streamline deployment and operational workflows.

· Knowledge Sharing: Provide training, architectural documentation, and mentoring to client and internal teams to ensure sustainable platform adoption.

Required Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience in data architecture or advanced data engineering, with at least 3 years focused on Databricks platform architecture and implementation.

· Deep expertise in Databricks SQL, Delta Lake, Spark (PySpark/Scala), and MLflow.

· Proven experience designing enterprise data platforms leveraging Databricks on Azure, AWS, or GCP.

· Strong background in cloud-native data services (Azure Data Lake Storage, AWS S3, GCP BigQuery, etc.).

· Hands-on experience architecting and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.

· Knowledge of AI/ML workflows and MLOps best practices within Databricks.

· Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

· Exceptional communication skills with experience in client-facing consulting and technical leadership.
