Credentialing Specialist (Provider Credentialing & Privileging)
Overview
We’re seeking a Credentialing Specialist to support provider credentialing and privileging for physicians and advanced practice providers. This role focuses on maintaining complete, accurate, and audit-ready provider files and ensuring ongoing compliance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain provider credentialing and privileging files (~195–200 providers)
- Support initial credentialing and improve ongoing re-credentialing maintenance (keeping documents current year-round vs. waiting for renewal cycles)
- Track and update required provider documentation, such as:
- State licensure
- DEA certificates
- Malpractice coverage
- BLS/required certifications and expirations
- Proactively follow up with providers to obtain missing/updated documentation and resolve file gaps
- Support audit readiness through accurate documentation and internal file reviews
- Partner with HR and payer enrollment/finance teams to ensure clean handoffs and complete documentation
- Use the credentialing system to track records and send reminders
Qualifications
Required
- Hands-on experience with physician and APP credentialing + privileging in a healthcare setting
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and comfort working in a compliance-driven environment
- Confident communicator able to professionally push for timely documentation from providers
Preferred
- Prior audit support experience
- Nonprofit healthcare experience
