Cloud/Platform Tech Ops Leader
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Work Model: Hybrid, 4–5 days onsite
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $170,000–$220,000 base salary

Position Summary
We are seeking a Technical Operations Manager, Digital Strategy to help lead and mature a modern technology operations environment within a fast-moving, growth-oriented organization.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong cloud and infrastructure operations depth, people leadership, and the ability to stay hands-on technically when needed. The right person will help improve operational maturity, guide cloud and infrastructure strategy, partner with external service providers, and support a scalable, well-governed technology environment.

This is not a purely strategic leadership role. The ideal candidate is someone who can lead teams, influence stakeholders, and step into technical and operational details when necessary to move work forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 6 technical professionals
  • Assess the current technology operations environment, including cloud footprint, tooling, support model, and overall operational maturity
  • Help develop and execute a roadmap to improve scale, reliability, and operational readiness
  • Partner closely with an external services provider supporting cloud, infrastructure, operations, and security-related functions
  • Help determine what work should remain outsourced versus what should be brought in-house over time
  • Support Azure-centric cloud operations and infrastructure strategy
  • Troubleshoot, guide, and unblock teams when hands-on technical support is needed
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, risk, audit, and leadership stakeholders
  • Support governance, controls, and regulatory or audit readiness efforts
  • Help shape future-state team structure, responsibilities, and capabilities
  • Balance innovation and delivery speed with compliance, stability, and operational discipline

1. Cloud Infrastructure / Cloud Operations Depth
Strong cloud operations background, ideally in Azure, with the technical depth to guide troubleshooting, infrastructure decisions, and maturity planning.

2. Leadership + Hands-On Capability
Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders while still being willing and able to roll up sleeves when needed.

3. Vendor Management in a Regulated Environment
Experience working with major managed services or consulting partners in environments shaped by governance, security, audit, and compliance expectations.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years in cloud, infrastructure, or technical operations environments
  • 3+ years leading technical teams
  • 3+ years working with or managing strategic external technology partners
  • 3+ years in a regulated or compliance-conscious environment
  • 3+ years in Azure or a comparable public cloud environment

Preferred Background

  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure and operations in Azure
  • Experience improving operational maturity in growing or evolving environments
  • Experience working with external partners for infrastructure, operations, or security support
  • Experience collaborating with architecture, engineering, risk, security, and executive leadership
  • Experience balancing agility with governance and operational discipline
