Title: IT Security Engineer III (DevSecOps / Threat Intelligence)
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Duration: Contract through end of July (2–3 months)
Pay Rate: $99.50/hr
Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Security Engineer III to support a high-impact, short-term initiative focused on threat intelligence operations, adversary disruption, and automation.
This role requires a hands-on security engineer with strong SQL expertise who can quickly ramp up and contribute to analyzing threat data, driving takedown efforts, and building automation to improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and query large datasets using SQL to identify threat patterns, trends, and adversary behavior
- Support threat intelligence and adversary disruption efforts, including coordinating takedown requests
- Review and triage incoming items from third-party vendors to determine legitimate threats vs false positives
- Help manage and reduce backlog in takedown workflows
- Build and enhance automation (Python, APIs) to streamline threat analysis and takedown processes
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on security operations and response efforts
- Contribute to incident response and security operations (SOC-related work)
- Support DevSecOps initiatives and integrate security into operational workflows
Required Qualifications
- Strong, hands-on experience with SQL (critical requirement)
- Background in security engineering, DevSecOps, or security operations (SOC)
- Experience with threat intelligence, incident response, or adversary tracking
- Familiarity with automation using Python and APIs
- Experience working with security tools, workflows, and vendor platforms
- Ability to quickly ramp up and contribute in a fast-paced, short-term engagement
- Must be local to San Diego, CA and able to work onsite 3 days/week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with adversary disruption or takedown operations
- Familiarity with threat intelligence vendors and platforms
- Exposure to AI/automation-driven security workflows
- Experience working cross-functionally with vendors and internal stakeholders
