Job Title: Business Process Consultant
Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (On-Site)
Job Type: Contract (Thru 6/30/27)
Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Business Process Consultant to help drive alignment between business processes and technology within a large, complex organization. In this role, you will analyze and redesign processes to optimize performance, support modernization initiatives, and ensure stakeholders’ operational needs align with IT solutions. You’ll work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, helping define process standards and guiding improvements across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth process and systems analysis, documenting current-state workflows and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Design and model future-state processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and performance.
• Identify process gaps, define process performance measures, and support transition/adoption of improved processes.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on process improvement and the strategic use of technology.
• Ensure solutions align with current and future program goals and broader organizational objectives.
• Support planning and prioritization of business process engineering activities.
• Communicate process definitions and flows clearly and provide support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior staff as needed and assist with complex initiatives spanning multiple teams and sites.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR equivalent work experience (education may be substituted with relevant experience on a year-for-year basis, where applicable).
• 7+ years of relevant IT experience, including:
  • 4+ years of process engineering / process improvement work
  • 2+ years of project management experience
• Certification in process improvement methodologies and demonstrated proficiency in approaches such as:
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) and/or Kaizen
• Strong capability in:
  • Business process mapping, bottleneck identification, and inefficiency analysis
  • Developing measures/metrics to evaluate process performance
• Experience with process mapping/modeling tools such as:
  • Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, and/or BPMN tools (e.g., Bizagi, ARIS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate and influence stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with regulatory or compliance standards relevant to highly regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, CJIS or similar).
• Experience designing processes that must meet industry-specific compliance requirements.

Work Environment / Location

• 100% onsite in Tallahassee, FL.
• Onsite office space and standard equipment/software access will be provided.
