Title: Project Manager – AI & Advanced Analytics

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and governance supporting the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional AI and advanced analytics projects — including machine learning models, GenAI solutions, and data science initiatives — via daily project management throughout the project life cycle
  • Strategic overview and reporting on AI project(s) to senior management and AI Office leadership, ensuring transparency on progress, value delivery, risks, and dependencies across the portfolio
  • Align the deliverables to the project’s outcome with the aid of data scientists, ML engineers, business change managers, and functional stakeholders (Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement) — ensuring proper communication to core project teams as well as business-level stakeholders
  • Coordinate the individual projects to define interdependencies, resources needed across the projects — including globally distributed teams (US, Brazil, India) — as well as corrective processes to manage risks and issues
  • Hold cross-functional team members, data scientists, engineers, and third-party partners accountable to agreed-upon deliverables, timelines, and quality standards — proactively driving resolution and escalation when commitments are at risk
  • Manage the escalation of known risks/issues to the project team, project sponsor, and work through mitigation options in order to continue progress toward overall project goals/outcomes — with a bias toward decisive action and resolution, not just documentation
  • Work with the business change manager(s) to define and track key performance indicators — including quantifiable business value ($-impact, efficiency gains, risk reduction) — properly illustrating the benefit while also maintaining business continuity throughout the project life cycle
  • Defining and supporting quality control standards and tracking through project implementation, including AI model performance, data quality, and responsible AI governance
  • Tracking of change control items to ensure alignment across the AI Office and broader Enterprise
  • Drive a culture of execution and accountability — ensure every initiative progresses from concept to measurable business value, not just status updates

Experience Required:

  • 7+ years’ experience leading cross-functional technical teams through successful project implementation, with at least 3 years in AI, data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics environments
  • 3+ years’ experience leading software development initiatives, and solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) — including AI/ML-specific lifecycles (experimentation, model training, MLOps, production deployment)
  • Proven track record of executing and delivering complex projects on time with measurable business outcomes — not just tracking tasks, but driving results
  • Demonstrated ability to hold diverse, matrixed teams accountable, including data scientists, engineers, business stakeholders, and external vendors/consultants
  • Experience with Azure-related efforts (Azure ML, Databricks, Azure DevOps) at an Enterprise level is a plus but not required
  • Strong ability to apply practical experience from large and complex initiatives to support any project necessary while acquiring the business knowledge necessary for successful implementation
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodology and techniques, as well as working knowledge of hybrid models of Waterfall and Agile teams, and where each is most beneficial in the project management world
  • AI/ML literacy — not required to code, but must understand the language, tools, and nuances of AI project delivery (data pipelines, model performance metrics, deployment patterns)
  • Ability to provide good understanding of the wider objectives of the project to various audiences including technical, non-technical, and C-level executives — with experience preparing executive-ready materials and board-level summaries
  • Ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals and competing personalities — especially in high-pressure, ambiguous environments where priorities shift
  • Strong leadership and management skills — with a demonstrated ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization
  • Strong ability to facilitate large groups toward a common decision or goal, working through conflict management techniques to reach issue resolution
  • Ability to pull individual outputs per project into the outcomes for support of AI Office strategic initiatives and enterprise AI portfolio goals
  • Ability to apply theory as practice
  • PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification preferred
  • Experience in industrial, mining, manufacturing, or Fortune 500 environments preferred
