Server Architect
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Server Architect to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for enterprise Windows Server infrastructure within a large, complex healthcare environment. This role serves as a senior technical authority responsible for the architecture, engineering, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Windows-based server platforms that support critical business and clinical operations.
The Server Architect will lead initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, performance, security, and operational excellence across the server ecosystem. This individual will collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, security stakeholders, and business leaders to design and deliver enterprise technology solutions that align with organizational objectives and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and oversee enterprise Windows Server infrastructure environments supporting mission-critical business and healthcare applications.
- Lead the planning, engineering, implementation, and lifecycle management of server hardware, operating systems, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain architectural standards, best practices, and strategic roadmaps for Windows Server platforms.
- Provide technical leadership for server provisioning, monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, patching, and system maintenance activities.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement infrastructure enhancements that improve system reliability, availability, scalability, and security.
- Lead complex operating system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Monitor server performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and operational improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure solutions align with application, security, networking, and business requirements.
- Serve as a technical advisor on large-scale initiatives involving multiple technologies, departments, and stakeholders.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, products, and industry trends to support strategic infrastructure planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while providing guidance to engineering and operational support teams.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to infrastructure engineers and administrators.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure architecture, server administration, or related technology roles.
- Extensive experience supporting and administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise server hardware platforms, operating systems, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure best practices.
- Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, system monitoring, patch management, and disaster recovery planning.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within large healthcare, academic medical center, or highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, certificate services, and related Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, scripting, and configuration management tools.
- Microsoft certifications or other relevant infrastructure certifications.
