What We Are Looking For

Our client is building an AI-first culture where AI is a core part of daily work and is used responsibly, securely, and transparently under governance standards.

We are looking for a builder-at-heart Principal Software Engineer to help build an AI Platform from the ground up (MCP gateway, AI portal/skills marketplace, identity layer, and agentic flows). This is a hands-on role for someone who codes the hardest problems, sets the technical bar, and thrives in ambiguity—turning emerging AI capabilities into secure, reliable, reusable platform infrastructure that accelerates software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Architect and hands-on build the core of the AI Platform: MCP gateway, AI portal/skills marketplace, identity brokering layer, and agentic execution flows
• Code the most complex/ambiguous solutions and set the technical bar for the platform
• Design secure-by-default integrations between internal systems and AI agents (authentication, authorization, RBAC, audit logging)
• Build telemetry/observability to make AI usage and spec-driven development measurable across the organization
• Partner with engineering teams to turn workflows into reusable skills, MCP servers, and agentic routines
• Establish patterns, guardrails, and “golden paths” for fast and safe adoption of AI tooling within governance standards
• Champion best practices in development, testing, and deployment; ensure scalability, reliability, and performance in a Kubernetes/DevOps environment
• Evaluate emerging models/frameworks/agent patterns and incorporate valuable approaches into the platform

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience
• Demonstrated experience designing and building platform/infrastructure/backend services used by other engineering teams
• Deep, hands-on experience building and operating production backend services and developer platforms
• Mastery of 2+ modern general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript); Go or C# is a plus
• Strong understanding of REST API design, GraphQL (building and consuming), and microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and container tooling (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience building on/integrating with LLMs and agentic systems (tool/function calling, MCP, retrieval, evaluation)
• Solid grounding in identity and access management (OAuth2/OIDC, SSO, RBAC); Keycloak, Entra ID, or Auth0 strongly preferred
• Familiarity with scripting/automation (Bash/PowerShell) and CI/CD + infrastructure as code (e.g., GitLab CI, Helm)
• Comfort operating in ambiguity; ability to solve problems without an existing blueprint
• Excellent communication and ability to influence/collaborate across teams
• Embraces AI as a core part of daily workflow and a partner in problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered or agentic applications (MCP servers, tool-calling agents, retrieval/RAG)
• Python and/or TypeScript/Node development experience
• Identity and access management experience (Keycloak, Entra ID, Auth0; OAuth2/OIDC)
• Cloud architecture and deployment (AWS, EKS); hands-on Docker/Kubernetes experience
• Experience with observability and telemetry tooling
• Financial services or brokerage domain experience
