Role Overview

This is a versatile IT Technical Lead role supporting delivery of upgraded capabilities within a PeopleSoft/PeopleTools upgrade. The role requires substantial experience with PeopleSoft Financials (AP/AR/BI/GL) and a strong understanding of how these modules integrate with other enterprise systems.
This person will work closely with operations and support teams and should be very technical, with prior experience using finance tools strongly preferred. Candidates who have supported batch scheduling or after-hours production support, or who have worked with an MSP, are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve complex problems, assign and manage work, and provide leadership within areas of specialization, operating with minimal supervision and significant latitude for unreviewed work.
  • Lead troubleshooting on the most complex issues and guide others in implementing fixes to systems and applications requiring sound judgment and independent action.
  • Visualize long-term outcomes and assess the system-wide impact of changes.
  • Communicate downtimes, change management activity, status, issues, and defects to users, IT leadership, and other stakeholders, and present technically complex topics clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Work with vendors on project implementation as well as ongoing support (break-fix, maintenance, user support, small projects).
  • Apply both waterfall and agile methodologies to develop and maintain applications.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and/or Technical Lead on assigned projects, contributing knowledge and expertise gained from experience.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, emergency patches, service packs, and upgrades in partnership with operations and DBA teams.
  • Apply relevant Human Performance tools during testing and implementation activities.
  • Provide recommendations and support decision-making at a portfolio level.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies.
  • Design solutions based on defined requirements and lead others through development and implementation.
  • Direct programmers and developers across required languages, database SQL, report writing, and ETL.
  • Support testing and code migration through test environments, ensuring adherence to design, coding, and source control standards.
  • Lead system design and code walkthroughs as presenter or reviewer.
  • Process change requests and QA documentation for project implementations and support changes.
  • Recommend IT process enhancements and standards within areas of assignment.
  • Coach and mentor other IT Application Analysts.
  • Lead corporate- and division-level initiatives, and assist management with strategic and tactical planning.
  • Manage team members’ day-to-day work assignments based on application pipeline reports, individual work queues, skills, and schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; in lieu of a degree, 15+ years of related business experience.
  • 10+ years of experience as an IT Application Analyst or equivalent, including specific experience with PeopleTools FCM upgrades.
  • Ten years of coding/programming, troubleshooting, and problem-solving, including logical design and SQL coding.
  • Strong experience with business requirements analysis, vendor management, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated adherence to enterprise standards and process discipline.
  • PeopleTools experience strongly preferred.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with batch scheduling and/or after-hours on-call support.
  • Experience working with or through a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Background using finance/accounting tools in a professional capacity.
