Senior Salesforce Administrator
Location: Remote (CST)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire / Direct Hire

Overview
The Senior Salesforce Administrator will serve as the organization’s primary internal Salesforce resource and subject matter expert. This person will provide hands-on platform administration and troubleshooting while coordinating with external consultants, vendors, business stakeholders, and IT teams.

This role requires someone who can independently assess requests, recommend solutions, manage competing priorities, and ensure Salesforce-related projects and deliverables remain on track. The ideal candidate combines strong technical Salesforce administration skills with stakeholder management, vendor oversight, and project coordination capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal go-to person for Salesforce-related questions, requests, troubleshooting, and platform guidance.
  • Perform hands-on Salesforce administration, configuration, maintenance, and operational support.
  • Investigate and resolve platform issues, including automation failures, access problems, data quality concerns, storage limitations, and system performance issues.
  • Manage Salesforce sandbox environments, including refreshes, testing coordination, configuration validation, release readiness, and deployment support.
  • Review and maintain Salesforce automation, including Flow and other declarative tools, to ensure solutions remain scalable, supportable, and aligned with platform standards.
  • Monitor and optimize data quality, database cleanliness, storage utilization, automation performance, system logs, and security-related configurations.
  • Configure and maintain roles, profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, public groups, and organization-wide defaults.
  • Identify technical debt, configuration risks, redundant automation, and opportunities to improve platform performance and maintainability.
  • Coordinate with external Salesforce consultants and vendor teams, helping establish priorities, clarify requirements, review work, and track deliverables.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and translate business needs into clear Salesforce requirements and actionable solutions.
  • Independently manage Salesforce initiatives and requests from initial discovery through testing, deployment, and completion.
  • Maintain visibility into project status, dependencies, risks, timelines, and outstanding decisions.
  • Support Salesforce governance, change management, release management, and documentation processes.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing integrations, escalating significant design changes or cross-system impacts to the appropriate architecture, data, or integration teams.
  • Partner with Sales Operations, Marketing Operations, Customer Experience, and other business teams to improve Salesforce functionality and adoption.

Required Skills

  • 5–7+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience supporting Sales Cloud and/or Service Cloud.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification.
  • Strong experience managing Salesforce sandbox environments, testing activities, and deployments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot Salesforce configuration, automation, access, data, storage, logging, security, and integration issues.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Salesforce Flow and related declarative automation.
  • Strong understanding of roles, profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, public groups, organization-wide defaults, and Salesforce security models.
  • Experience with data management, data cleansing, duplicate management, storage monitoring, and overall database health.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, explain technical concepts, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage external consultants or vendors and hold teams accountable for agreed-upon timelines and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to independently prioritize work and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable and supportable Salesforce configurations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Advanced Salesforce certifications, such as Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, or Service Cloud Consultant.
  • Working knowledge of Apex, triggers, and Salesforce development concepts sufficient to troubleshoot issues and partner effectively with developers.
  • Experience with release management or DevOps tools such as Copado, Gearset, Azure DevOps, Jira, or ServiceNow.
  • Experience supporting integrations with ERP platforms such as SAP or other third-party applications.
  • Experience serving as the primary Salesforce administrator or platform owner within an organization.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery models.
  • Active participation in the Salesforce community or Trailhead.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification required.
  • Advanced Salesforce certifications preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day direction and take ownership of Salesforce-related requests and deliverables.
  • Ability to balance hands-on administration with stakeholder communication, vendor coordination, and project management responsibilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architecture, security, data, integration, and external consulting teams.
  • Comfortable leading Salesforce conversations and providing informed recommendations to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
