What Our LinkedIn Polls Say About Digital Transformation Readiness
Digital transformation gets talked about a lot. Sometimes too much. But behind the noise, real work is happening and real teams are being asked to deliver it.
So instead of guessing how organizations are doing, we asked. Throughout January, we ran a series of LinkedIn polls with HR leaders and business decision makers to get a clearer sense of where things actually stand. Not the slide deck version, but the day-to-day reality.
What we heard was consistent. Progress is happening and confidence is not always keeping up.

Most Teams Are Moving Forward
The first question was simple. Are companies actually doing the work or still talking about it?
Nearly half of respondents said they are actively executing digital transformation initiatives. Another group is planning and budgeting. Only a small portion said they have nothing in motion right now.
That tells us something important. This is no longer theoretical. Projects are live, timelines are real, and expectations are set.
But, once things move from planning to execution, the gaps tend to show up quickly.

Confidence Drops When Skills Come Into Focus
When we asked whether teams felt fully equipped to meet their goals, the answers shifted.
Only a small number said yes without hesitation.
Most respondents pointed to skills gaps. Some described them as significant, while others said they could move forward but only with outside help. Very few felt fully confident that their current team had everything covered.
This isn’t surprising. Specialized work requires specialized experience. You can have smart, capable people and still run into trouble when the work demands very specific knowledge.

How Teams Are Actually Finding Talent
So how are organizations filling those gaps?
The answers were pretty clear. Half of respondents rely on specialized staffing partners. Internal recruiting and referrals also play a role. General job boards barely made a dent.
That tracks with what many hiring managers already know. The people you need most are usually not scrolling job postings. They are busy. They are selective. And they tend to move through trusted connections.
What This Tells Us
Taken together, the poll results paint a practical picture. Companies are moving forward, teams are feeling the strain, and the way talent is found is changing.
This is less about big ideas and more about access. Access to people who have already solved similar problems and can step in without a long learning curve.
At Gravity IT Resources, this mirrors what we see every day. When the right expertise shows up at the right time, projects move. When it doesn’t, everything slows down.
Final Thought
Digital transformation readiness is not about having the perfect plan. It is about being honest about what your team can handle today and knowing where to get help when needed.
The organizations that keep moving are not the ones pretending they have it all covered. They are the ones willing to fill the gaps before those gaps fill the calendar with delays.
