Job Title: Engineer II, Test
Location: Warrendale, PA (on site)
Job Type: Contract (1 year)

The Engineer II, Test, interfaces with all levels of the company and collaborates with engineering, SWD, marketing, manufacturing, quality and purchasing as well as other cross-functional teams.  This position exhibits understanding and experience to test and qualify large-scale electromechanical systems to design requirements and medical industry standards. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Evaluation Tests, Engineering Verification Tests (EVT) and Design Validation Tests (DVT) for medical equipment/systems with the assistance of other test engineers, interns, and technicians.
  • Define product test plans and overall test solutions.
  • Evaluate test results, investigate product test failures, analyze performance problems, define root causes, recommend corrective actions, and write test reports.
  • Design and implement manual and automated test solutions at a system level and sub-system level to support the testing of robotic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Assist in conducting failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) of system level and sub-system level designs to identify high risk areas requiring testing.
  • Direct support of customers, to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to evaluate field issues.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to suppliers and vendors to assist with test development and production ramp up.
  • Focus on improving the overall test capability of the department.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with designing automated and manual test sets for testing electromechanical and robotic assemblies including the integration of off the shelf test equipment.
  • Experience with designing automated test-fixtures for PCBAs and electronic assemblies.
  • Highly analytical and experienced with FMEA process and statistical tests methods such as Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Ability to create, read electrical schematics and assembly drawings as well as understand their functions.
  • Knowledge of UL/TUV/CSA, FCC/CE standards and test requirements.
  • Working experience in ISO 9001 environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with automated test systems including data acquisition systems.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross functional collaborative relationships.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist cross functional teams with the debugging of complex issues.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant Engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of related experience in a verification testing of medical, laboratory, military, or industrial equipment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RS232, USB, Ethercat, CPLDs, microcontrollers, etc.
  • Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with Agile PLM and understanding of ECR, ECO process.
  • Experience in LabView, AutoCad, ProE, Solid Works and Orcad.
  • Experience in C programming Experience with project lead role.
