Job Description
A Project Manager is an integral part of the Information Technology (IT) Department. A Project Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of IT initiatives on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities
- The Project Manager must acquire full understanding of business requirements and the scope of tasks that must be completed to ensure that the team is aligned to business needs and stakeholders’ expectations.
- The Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring project progress by tracking activity and reporting project updates to stakeholders on a weekly basis.
- The Project Manager must have a sense of urgency in resolving errors that affect the functionality of a system and delivering tasks on the desired go-live date.
- The Project Manager must provide clear examples and a detailed description of the error(s), and where possible, provide supporting screenshots. All supporting screenshots must be labeled appropriately and referenced in the issue description to provide more context and information about the error.
- The Project Manager is accountable for organizing projects using agile practices (i.e. Scrum, Kanban) and closely monitoring project progress to ensure that due dates and project milestones are delivered on time.
- The Project Manager is also responsible for the below activities:
- Prioritize issues in the project backlog based on stakeholder needs
- Ensure that epics, stories, enhancements, tasks or bugs are properly documented with clear acceptance criteria
- Remove impediments that may impact project deliverables
- Encourage team members to log time daily
- The Project Manager plays a key role in a project since he/she acts as the Scrum Master and is empowered to manage the team to accomplish the project’s objectives.
In many instances, the Project Manger acts as the Scrum Master when using Scrum when managing new projects:The Scrum Master is responsible for implementing scrum principles in the software development lifecycle of the project.
- The Scrum Master is responsible for adding clear and concise descriptions to epics, stories, tasks, and subtasks. Each story must include a proper acceptance criteria to ensure that the team has a clear understanding of what should be the minimum requirements of the expected output.
- The Scrum Master must act as a facilitator and encourage collaboration between the Scrum Team and Product Owner/Business Analyst.
- The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating all Scrum Meetings, Sprint Planning Meetings, Daily Scrum Meetings, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospective Meetings as scheduled.
- The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that a sprint starts and ends according to a defined timeline, and that it follows agile best practices.
- The Scrum Master is responsible for preparing project metrics to keep track of the project’s progress and to share relevant project information with the Product Owner and Stakeholder(s).
- The Scrum Master is responsible for creating meeting minutes in Confluence for every Scrum meeting (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum Meeting, Sprint Review & Retrospective Meeting) related to the development and testing of a change request, enhancement, or bug.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business or Information Technology related area
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written, 100% Bilingual is preferred)
- Strong business acumen
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Visio and Microsoft Office tools
- Scrum Master or Product Owner Certification (preferred)
- PMI Certification (preferred)
