Sr. Applications Operations Engineer

Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Applications Operations Engineer to support and maintain critical applications, data pipelines, and processing platforms. This role owns operational performance, uptime, and continuous improvement across multiple systems and products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations for business-critical applications and platforms
• Partner with product and business teams to define support models and KPIs
• Monitor system performance, uptime, and SLA adherence
• Own incident management, including escalation and root cause analysis
• Implement proactive monitoring and automation to prevent outages
• Build capacity and performance models to support system scalability
• Drive operational improvements, standardization, and efficiency across teams
• Conduct system health checks and lead continuous improvement efforts
• Communicate system status, risks, and updates to stakeholders and leadership
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in Application Support, IT Operations, or SRE-type environments
• Proven ability to manage incidents, outages, and root cause analysis
• Experience with monitoring tools, automation, and performance optimization
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to influence, collaborate, and drive cross-functional alignment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 4+ years experience, OR
• Associate’s degree + 7+ years experience, OR
• 3+ years in Application Operations / IT Support (or similar)
• Military experience considered equivalent
