Overview
The HRIS Specialist – Workday LMS is a hands-on Workday configuration resource responsible for supporting, optimizing, and enhancing Workday Learning within a large, project-driven workforce environment. This role partners closely with HR, Talent Development, IT, training content creators, and business stakeholders to translate learning and workforce needs into scalable Workday solutions that improve training delivery, data integrity, compliance, reporting, and the overall employee experience.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday Learning/LMS capabilities, configuration, enhancements, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to support LMS roadmap development and prioritize system enhancements.
  • Design, configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Learning, including Learning HUBs, course assignments, enrollment rules, condition rules, notifications, security roles, calculated fields, and reporting.
  • Partner with HR, Talent Development, Training, IT, and other business partners to gather requirements, understand operational needs, and translate business processes into Workday solutions.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain Workday reports, dashboards, discovery boards, and analytics, including advanced, matrix, and composite reports.
  • Maintain data integrity through regular audits, troubleshooting, exception reporting, and proactive data cleanup.
  • Support Workday semiannual release cycles, including impact assessments, configuration updates, regression testing, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Create and maintain functional design documentation, including data mapping, process flows, test scripts, configuration decisions, business process guides, and job aids.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 configuration-based troubleshooting and support for escalated HRIS or LMS tickets.
  • Ensure HRIS practices align with data governance, privacy standards, internal compliance frameworks, change control, testing, and release protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Workday HCM and Workday Learning/LMS configuration experience.
  • Strong understanding of HR business processes, Core HCM data structures, organizations, employee lifecycle transactions, and learning administration processes.
  • Experience configuring Workday Learning functionality, including learning campaigns, course assignments, enrollment rules, Learning HUBs, notifications, and security roles.
  • Proficiency with Workday reporting, including advanced report writer, dashboards, calculated fields, matrix reports, and composite reports.
  • Ability to configure, test, and implement system changes or enhancements while minimizing disruption to HR and business operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver scalable Workday solutions.
  • Ability to translate business needs into functional and technical requirements for Workday configuration.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and execute high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Workday certifications in HCM, Learning/LMS, and/or Reporting preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, Jira, or similar backlog management tools preferred.
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR systems in a large, project-driven workforce environment preferred.
