Title: Epic Cogito BI Developer
Location: REMOTE

Role Summary
The Epic Cogito Business Intelligence Developer (BID) is part of the Business Intelligence (BI) workstream and serves as an integral member of the BI team. This role is responsible for organization-wide data extractions, queries, reporting, and data delivery in support of an EHR migration to Epic. The position supports strategic initiatives by enabling analysis of operational data (clinical, research, patient-focused, financial, and administrative) and reporting of aggregated information using various BI tools.

This position collaborates with clinicians, researchers, and operational staff to ensure data reporting requirements are met through data extraction and the development of reports and dashboards using the suite of BI solutions available within the Epic environment. The role will assist in the migration of existing data, dashboards, and reporting into Cogito as part of the Epic implementation project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively and effectively handle complex data requests at any given time.
  • Complete data requests that are of medium complexity or higher.
  • Design and develop effective BI solutions that may include reports and dashboards using available tools, with a focus on Epic Cogito.
  • Provide timely responses to ad-hoc data requests from data users by performing mid-level or complex data extracts, queries, creating data reports, fixing identified data issues, and addressing technical questions.
  • Provide end-user support, documentation, and training for business intelligence solutions.
  • Complete assigned BI tickets and higher-priority ad-hoc data requests; modify existing reporting products as requested by managers.
  • Provide operational support for assigned applications.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Information Systems, Healthcare, or related field) strongly preferred.
  • Will consider an Associate’s degree with 2 additional years of direct experience.

Required Certifications

  • Current, active Epic Certification in Cogito
  • Data Courier Badge required

Minimum Experience Required

  • 5 years of experience within an Epic environment, including successful implementations and projects with a high level of complexity.

Minimum Skills / Specialized Training

  • Experience with software development/customization/integration
  • Strong experience utilizing various BI technologies and standards
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking; demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Experience designing data models, dashboards, and building reports
  • Experience with network-related interface activities
  • Strong experience gathering reporting requirements
  • Experience in Epic applications and healthcare operations (e.g., clinical, billing, scheduling, access services, health information management, etc.)
  • Knowledge of clinical, business, and/or operational healthcare data and reporting
  • Experience in data query, extraction, reporting, analysis (information systems capacity), database management and infrastructure; specific experience with data integration
  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills
  • Experience with healthcare information systems including application and data layer management preferred
  • Experience with integration platforms including middleware and application interfaces preferred
  • Experience with project life cycle and project management methodologies preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, other BI software, ETL, and data warehousing concepts
